Introduction to Web Design
Welcome to Introduction to Web Design. This course is an exploration of the process of web design from proposal to production. Students will learn to design and produce web sites with web editing software using XHTML and CSS Web standards. Our inspiration will be taken from the Zen of CSS Design: Visual Enlightenment for the Web and the CSS Zen Garden Website. The required book is Head First Web Design - A Brain Friendly Design by Ethan Watrall & Jeff Siarto.
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Understand current web standards (XHTML and CSS)
- Design CSS based layouts for a web page
- Successfully convert Pantone colors into web colors
- Develop logically structured web pages in dreamweaver
- Identify the essential elements of a successful webpage navigation
- Create workable links between portions of a page
- Animate graphical content
- Understand Web Accessibility
- Construct an accessible form document
You will need the required book and a USB Drive to the first class session. Refer to Week 1 for details of the first class.
